How and when you got into the trade?
Staghead Designs began with a love of exploring and a need to create. When we were looking for a wedding band, we found that the options for men's wedding bands lacked creativity, meaning, and care. All the designs were the same uninspired, mass-produced products, made with cold and unimaginative materials. Where did our unique personality and style fit in? We wanted to provide something for those who wanted a more unique and meaningful symbol for their love. Something that spoke to them about who they are and what their love represents.
One day while hiking near our home, my wife and I stumbled across an antler shed. My wife suggested I try making a ring from the shed, as it would represent our passion for craftsmanship and our love for the outdoors. We quickly found, from the compliments and ring requests I was receiving, that I wasn't the only one who wanted something unique and wild. We started fulfilling those ring requests from a makeshift workshop on the living room floor of the little house we rented after getting married.
Today, we have had the opportunity to help tens of thousands of couples design and receive a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted ring that represents their love.
Where do you take your inspiration from?
We were initially inspired by the materials we found in nature, representing our own relationship, connection, and creativity. We became further inspired by our early clients. They resonated with our designs and our use of natural and non-traditional materials and helped us reach further with their inspiration and unique requests for unique new materials. We are inspired by the stories our clients share about their love and commitment, as well as the symbolism and stories surrounding love in myth, art, and history.
How would you describe your work in 5 words?
"As unique & meaningful as your love!" (is 7 ok?)
How would you describe your work in 5 words?
Whimsical, Nature-Inspired, Romantic, Bespoke, Handcrafted
What was the most memorable piece that you made?
We invite our clients to tell their stories using the design and materials they choose for their rings! Because of this, it is hard to choose just one out of the thousands of unique designs we have had the honor of custom crafting for clients as "the most memorable." Instead, I think we will go "Salene" a piece designed by Liz & Jen, designed using inspiration from the night sky, for our Celestial Collection. It features a bezel-set round center stone, surrounded by ornate filigree and two crescent moon engravings that go all the way through the band. It also features a unique ring guard, housing two crescent moon salt & pepper diamonds in opposing directions, each accented by marquise diamonds down each side. Lastly, you will find a hidden sun engraving on the underside of the crown.
